About Broadstairs

The historic seaside resort of Broadstairs in East Kent is well known as the occasional home to Charles Dickens. It is steeped in heritage with its narrow streets and charming small shops. A small town of about 25,000 inhabitants, it has long been perceived as a safe destination for students of all ages since the 1960’s

Attractions in the town include the Dickens museum, The Crampton Tower museum, Bleak House, North Foreland lighthouse and, of course, its beautiful sandy beaches. Just along the coast are the bustling resorts of Ramsgate and Margate with all the usual attractions of modern seaside destinations.

It is just 30 kilometres from the Channel port of Dover and less than an hour from the Eurostar terminal at Ashford International. The major airports of London are approximately 2 hours away by car.

The cathedral city of Canterbury is just 30 minutes away and London in less than 2 hours by train or coach. Europe’s premier shopping mall at Bluewater is also about 1 hour by road. Cambridge and Brighton are also accessible by road in about 2 hours.

The College

Our centre is in Kingsgate College, no more than 4 kilometres from the historic town centre. A turn of the century building, it has been used for educational purposes for many years. It was formerly and adult education centre for in-service training of teachers and is now home to the Shumei Corporation. It is used as a full time school throughout the year.

It is situated in open countryside, adjacent to a Championship golf course with a short course which has been praised by top professional players as one of the best, most demanding of its type.

The sea and the “blue flag” sandy beaches are less than 500 metres away.

About Canterbury

Canterbury is world famous as the seat of The Church of England, with the outstanding architectural beauty of its Cathedral dominating the city centre. It has welcomed pilgrims for over 600 years and remains a hub of cultural and academic activity for visitors of all nationalities.

Its two universities ensure there is a young and cosmopolitan population year round whilst the traffic-free, compact but varied centre offers large retail shops, small boutiques, a myriad of cafés and restaurants together with innumerable places of historic interest.

It is close to the sandy, Blue flag beaches of East Kent beaches yet only an hour away from London and less than two hours from London’s main airports. The Eurostar station at Ashford is 30 minutes away giving easy access to the continent.

The College

Our centre, Kent College, is a private school on a hill overlooking the city but less than 2 kilometres from the centre therefore providing easy access whilst at the same time the security of a closed, residential centre. The facilities include spacious grounds, an Astroturf pitch, grass tennis courts, multipurpose sports hall, theatre, IT room, arts and crafts room, an onsite convenience shop and much more. There is a private swimming pool at the nearby Junior School.

All classrooms are bright with modern furniture giving WiFi access to the internet.

Accommodation

Girls and boys live in separate accommodation blocks and our resident staff also stay in the same buildings to ensure 24/7 student welfare and monitoring. The rooms are 2, 3 or 4 bedded with some larger dormitories often favoured by pupils! There are adequate bathing and toilet facilities nearby to all rooms.

Beds are modern and comfortable and all have lots of storage space for clothes and personal belongings.

Laundry will be done for the students on a regular basis

All meals are taken in the main building with a choice of English or Continental breakfast, hot lunch and dinner with a salad bar option. We can also provide for special dietary needs with prior notice.

About Horsham (Brighton)

Horsham is a beautiful town situated in the South Downs just 20 minutes from London Gatwick airport and a similar distance from the bustling seaside resort of Brighton on the south coast. The location offers a myriad of possibilities for exploration. 

There are few places in Britain which can offer such a wealth of arts & cultural experiences as Sussex with historic houses, museums, gardens and numerous events such as the world famous Glyndebourne Festival Opera.

Nearby Brighton offers all the attractions of London, which itself is only an hour away, in a more compact area. We take good advantage of the proximity of the seaside resorts for sports and social activities.

The College

Our centre, Farlington School is a boarding school located in Horsham on the West Sussex/Surrey border. It is situated in open countryside with ample grounds, trees and wildlife. There are 20 hectares to in which to explore and relax, it is the perfect location for younger pupils who wish to study in a safe and tranquil environment.
